  <title><![CDATA[Three APA Division Paper Awards to Tech MCRP Students]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Last spring, the&nbsp;American Planning Association Housing and Community Development Division gave two of&nbsp;four awards to&nbsp;MCRP students, Kia Ball and Kyungsoon Wang, for their papers, "A Needs Assessment of Permanent Supportive Housing in Atlanta," and " The Impacts of Smart Growth Strategies on Housing Prices, Focusing on Transportation Improvement Porgrams," respectively.&nbsp; Each student received a grant from the division of $1000 to apply toward their research for a graduate thesis or student project. Descriptions of their&nbsp;papers can be found in the <a href="http://hg.gatech.edu/sites/default/files/APASummer10-FINAL.PDF" target="_blank">summer 2010 issue of the Housing and Community Development Quarterly</a>, which includes a written piece from the&nbsp;vice-chair of the publication&nbsp;and graduate of the School of City and Regional Planning, Ryan Sherriff.</p><p>Evan Robertson (MCRP 2011), also received honorable mention and $500 in scholarship from the Economic Development Division paper competition. His paper, <a href="http://hg.gatech.edu/sites/default/files/erobertson_Hacker Spaces_User-Led Innovation and Economic Development.pdf" target="_blank">"Hacker Spaces: User-Led Innovation and Economic Development,"</a> was an exploration on new potential scources of innovation and was published in the <a href="http://www.planning.org/divisions/economic/newsletter/index.htm" target="_blank">summer 2010 Economic Development Division's newsletter</a>.</p>]]></body>
