Interns will assist the government affairs team at the state capitol during the 2019 Legislative Session. Interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in state lobbying efforts and gain knowledge of key stakeholders and issues of importance in the state of Georgia.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EPosition Title: Government Affairs Intern\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EReports To: Senior VP of Public Affairs, VP of State and Political Affairs, Director of Government Affairs, State and Political Affairs Director, and Government and Political Affairs Coordinator\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EPosition Dates: December 2018 -April 2019 (start dates\/schedule flexible)\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHours: 20-24 hours per week\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDuties \u0026amp; Responsibilities\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nThe primary purpose of the internship is to assist the government affairs team in their state lobbying efforts at the Capitol during the 2019 Session of the Georgia General Assembly. Potential tasks associated with this include, but are not limited to:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAttend committee hearings and take detailed notes on legislation that the Chamber is tracking\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECoordinate and prepare handouts for Government Affairs Council meetings\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAssist with creation and distribution of electronic and print information per the direction of the government affairs team\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESkills \u0026amp; Requirements\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EThird year level student or higher in a baccalaureate program; or graduate studies in related field\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EHave a proven track record of strong relationship building skills\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EDemonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EBe able to identify and provide the appropriate level of information to stakeholders\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EBe able to organize large amounts of information, with high attention to detail\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EBe positive and responsive with a high level of professionalism\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ETrustworthy and respectful of Chamber mission \u0026bull;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EInterest in politics and the legislative process\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBenefits\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EParking and expenses reimbursed while on Chamber business\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ECredit hours upon agreement and documentation by sponsoring institution\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EA stipend of $10 per hour, maximum of 20 hours per week to allow interns to gain valuable experiential education without sacrificing needed income\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EApplication Process\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nTo apply, download the application packet located on the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.gachamber.com\/careers\/\u0022\u003EGeorgia Chamber career page\u003C\/a\u003E.
