On Thursday, the Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage was awarded to Andrew Young. A panel discussion with Young and others, including Bayor, was held as part of the celebration.
The panel took place from 10:15-11:45 and included:
- Dr. Ronald H. Bayor, Emeritus Professor, School of History and Sociology, Georgia Institute of Technology
- Reverend Dr. Robert M. Franklin, James T. and Berta R. Laney Professor in Moral Leadership, Emory University and Professor Emeritus, Morehouse College
- The Honorable Shirley C. Franklin, Former Mayor, City of Atlanta
- Mrs. Errin Haines Whack, National Writer, Race and Ethnicity, The Associated Press
