It does not include any content of its own.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhen did the change happen?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nThe Georgia Tech Library activated OpenAthens authentication in mid-May.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhy did we change services?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nOpenAthens offers a single sign-on, integrated with Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s authentication service, to access the library\u0026rsquo;s subscription-based content. End-users are able to access e-resources across service provider sites with just one login.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat is different?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nWhile accessing e-resources a user should see an OpenAthens login screen (see below for an example). It will ask the user to identify their home institution \u0026ndash; in our case Georgia Tech. From there, they will use the Georgia Tech login service and be given access to the resource. Users should choose the \u0026ldquo;find your organization\u0026rdquo; box to search for Georgia Tech.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWill login link\/screen look the same for all resources?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nNo, it will be resource specific. Look for\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003Esign in\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;or\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003Elogin\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;links, usually at the top. Will OpenAthens remember me?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nOpenAthens uses cookies to remember your device\u0026rsquo;s IP address. If you change web services \u0026ndash; from Firefox to Chrome or Internet Explorer \u0026ndash; you will be asked to login again. Additionally, if you change devices, like from a laptop to a mobile phone, you will be asked to login again.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat happens if I clear my cookies daily, weekly or monthly?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nYou will be asked to login again.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat happens if I never clear my cookies or change my browser? Will OpenAthens remember me forever?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nIt depends on your browser, but generally the OpenAthens temporary browser cookie expires every eight hours. After eight hours you will be prompted to login again. Also, please remember if you clear your browser cookies or close out your browser session, the cookies are lost and you will have to login again.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EI\u0026rsquo;ve bookmarked resources using EZProxy, do I need to update my bookmarks?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nYour existing permalinks will be redirected to the new OpenAthens service through the fall. As part of the redirect, we have placed messages alerting users to the change. Once users are redirected to the page, they can make a new bookmark.
