Data transactions are as common as convenience store purchases, yet the costs of those transactions are very different.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EInformation visualization researchers at Georgia Tech are developing ways people can better understand the world\u0026rsquo;s data and how to interpret its meaning through techniques that can surface key insights and make the data meaningful to users.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech faculty and graduate students will present their latest research in information visualization and visual analytics, including 14 papers, at the annual IEEE Visualization (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ieeevis.org\/year\/2018\/welcome\u0022\u003EIEEE VIS\u003C\/a\u003E) Conference in Berlin, Germany, Oct. 21-26.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch4\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/gvu.gatech.edu\/vis-2018\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EExplore Research Highlights and Data Graphics\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/h4\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOf the 15 researchers, 11 are from the School of Interactive Computing and four represent the School of Computational Science and Engineering in the College of Computing. The faculty authors \u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003ERahul\u0026nbsp;Basole\u003C\/strong\u003E,\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EPolo Chau\u003C\/strong\u003E,\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EAlex Endert\u003C\/strong\u003E, and\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EJohn Stasko\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;are members of the VIS Lab and GVU Center.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESchool of Interactive Computing Professor John Stasko, along with collaborators from Microsoft Research, will receive a Test of Time award for their 2007 paper\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/document\/4658146\u0022\u003E\u003Cem\u003EEffectiveness of Animation in Trend Visualization\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E. It is Stasko\u0026rsquo;s second straight year receiving such a designation at IEEE VIS.
