IARPA plays an essential role in the United States intelligence community as a funder of academic research across many technological and scientific disciplines. The organization also ensures their successful research projects are transferred over to relevant government agencies.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDixon highlighted\u0026nbsp;policy questions to frame the discussion:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EWhat is the relationship between strategic intelligence and technology?\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EWhat are the current trends in cutting edge intelligence-related research?\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EDoes public policy lag technological change?\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EHow can technology react to policy needs?\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EDo researchers envision the need for future policy changes as a result of their research?\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDixon\u0026rsquo;s\u0026nbsp;experience in technology policy has also allowed her to work across a broad spectrum of congressional and governmental agencies. Before being promoted from deputy director to director of IARPA,\u0026nbsp;she served\u0026nbsp;as deputy director of research of\u0026nbsp;the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency,\u0026nbsp;and as chief of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs.\u0026nbsp;In addition, she\u0026nbsp;worked on the U.S. House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence staff, and as a Central Intelligence Agency officer for\u0026nbsp;the National Reconnaissance Office\u0026rsquo;s Advanced Systems and Technology Directorate.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDixon is also a Georgia Tech alum as she holds\u0026nbsp;doctorate and master\u0026rsquo;s degrees in mechanical engineering from The George W.
