Ant\u0026oacute;n, a professor in Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s School of Interactive Computing, has been named a technologist advisor to the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EStarting this month, Ant\u0026oacute;n will assist the court in a part-time role. She is the only academic among the three technologists.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe FISC may receive assistance from an \u0026ldquo;amicus curiae\u0026rdquo; (friend of the court), who has expertise in privacy and civil liberties, intelligence collection, communications technology or other relevant areas.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;I am honored to be asked to assist with foreign intelligence cases that involve national security, cybersecurity and privacy,\u0026rdquo; Ant\u0026oacute;n said. \u0026ldquo;Technologists play a vital role in helping the courts understand how complex systems operate in practice, in order to assure that systems comply with law.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnt\u0026oacute;n, a Georgia Tech graduate, returned to serve as chair of the School of Interactive Computing from 2012 to 2017.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2016, she was one of 12 members of the President\u0026rsquo;s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":" Starting this month, Annie Ant\u00f3n will assist the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in a part-time role.
