Rice, who\u0026nbsp;will join the School\u0026rsquo;s distinguished faculty starting in spring 2019.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERobert Bell, a security and defense specialist with 45 years of experience in the United States government, will bolster the School\u0026rsquo;s focus on and reputation for scholarship on national defense.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBell retired from the U.S. Government in 2017 following\u0026nbsp;service across many fields in international relations and security. Some career highlights include working for\u0026nbsp;three\u0026nbsp;years with\u0026nbsp;NATO as the assistant secretary general for defense investment, seven\u0026nbsp;years at the White House as former President Bill Clinton\u0026rsquo;s National Security Council senior director for defense policy and arms control, and 12 years as a professional staff member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBell also spent seven years in Brussels, Belgium, as the senior civilian representative in Europe under four different secretaries of defense.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EJohn G. Rice will contribute to the Nunn School\u0026rsquo;s expertise in the private sector thanks to his many years working at General Electric.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERice retired as vice chairman of the General Electric Company in April 2018. He\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nbegan his GE career in 1978 and has held several leadership positions in the United States, Canada, and Singapore.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBeginning in 2010, he led the company\u0026rsquo;s global operations based in Hong Kong.
