{"613779":{"#nid":"613779","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Tech Women Raise Funds, Awareness for Women\u0027s Education","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThis week, sorority women at Georgia Tech are banding together to raise funds and awareness for women\u0026rsquo;s education.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEvents will take place throughout the week for the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.gatechcpc.com\/\u0022\u003ECollegiate Panhellenic Council\u0026rsquo;s (CPC)\u003C\/a\u003E Circle of Sisterhood Week, with all proceeds benefiting the community\u0026#39;s philanthropy. Most events are open to the entire Georgia Tech community.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ECPC works with the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.circleofsisterhood.org\/\u0022\u003ECircle of Sisterhood Foundation\u003C\/a\u003E on efforts related to women\u0026rsquo;s empowerment and education around the world, focusing on building schools in developing countries. Circle of Sisterhood works to develop schools by providing educational materials and personnel, and building schools in areas that do not have established educational opportunities. At least 50 percent of the students at these schools must be women.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ELast spring, 18 women from Georgia Tech traveled to Sass Mack-Satem, Senegal, to break ground on a school partially funded by donations from the Tech community. Now, Tech women are raising money to build another school.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Circle of Sisterhood is so important to our community as women pursuing an education,\u0026quot; said Ashley Fleck, philanthropy vice president for CPC. \u0026ldquo;We are afforded opportunities that wouldn\u0026rsquo;t have been available to us otherwise simply because of where we were born. There are millions of young women across the globe that are not as lucky.
