Their behavior could make us wonder at their thoughtfulness or suspect them of insincerity, but are such appraisals of ours meaningful at all? Under what conditions should we ascribe sincerity, or lack thereof, to an AI agent? And how might we determine whether such an agent\u0026rsquo;s apparently thoughtful behavior is deliberate and genuine?
