He joined ECE on January 1.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMolzahn is an assistant professor and is a member of the electrical energy technical interest group. His office is located in Van Leer E176. His research focuses on optimization and control algorithms for improving environmental sustainability, economic efficiency, and\u0026nbsp;reliability of electric power systems. He also addresses non-linearities resulting from power flow equations and develops mathematically rigorous techniques for incorporating uncertainties related to renewable generation and varying load demands.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nMolzahn came to Georgia Tech from Argonne National Laboratory, where he was a computational engineer in the Center for Energy, Environmental, and Economic Systems Analysis. He was a Dow Postdoctoral Fellow in Sustainability in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the\u0026nbsp;University of Michigan. He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and a Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMolzahn was invited to attend the 2019 German-American Frontiers of Engineering (GAFOE) Symposium, to be held March 21-23 in Hamburg, Germany. He is among the 60 most promising\u0026nbsp;early-career engineers from German and United States universities, industry, and government who have been chosen to participate.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe symposium will cover four topics:\u0026nbsp;Artificial Intelligence and Deep\u0026nbsp;Learning, Biomedical Optics, Electro-Mobility and Its\u0026nbsp;Impact, and Technologies for Space Exploration.\u0026nbsp;GAFOE is carried out in partnership with the National Academy of Engineering and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation\u0026nbsp;and is supported by The Grainger Foundation.
