617411 news 1549468413 1549471584 <![CDATA[Campus Welcomes Gender-Inclusive, Single-Occupant Restrooms ]]> Stemming from recommendations from the Path Forward’s LGBTQIA Community Support Action team, more than 150 single-occupant, gender-inclusive restrooms have been designated in 63 buildings on Georgia Tech’s campus, ­which includes housing and athletic facilities.

“This step represents continued progress toward creating more open and welcoming campus facilities that are useful for every member of our community,” said Jennifer Hubert, interim associate vice president, Institute Planning and Resource Management.

Since late 2017, teams from Capital Planning and Facilities Management have been working to inventory existing single-stall bathrooms and other space opportunities on campus to convert select facilities into gender-inclusive, single-occupant restrooms, complete with user-friendly signage. The signage also helps designate which single-occupant restrooms are ADA-accessible and/or house diaper-changing tables.

In addition to the restroom conversions and new signage installations, Georgia Tech is also updating the online campus map to reflect the location of these gender-inclusive, single-occupant restrooms. Moving forward, Georgia Tech will review campus needs for additional gender-inclusive restrooms, as buildings are renovated or constructed.
