{"619548":{"#nid":"619548","#data":{"type":"news","title":"OneUSG \u2014 You Said Things Were Changing","body":[{"value":"\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EYou may have noticed a buzz on campus:\u0026nbsp;change is in the air.\u0026nbsp;The way we manage Human Resources transactions at Georgia Tech is going to change.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIf you\u0026rsquo;ve\u0026nbsp;followed\u0026nbsp;this series, you are now familiar with\u0026nbsp;Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s\u0026nbsp;governing body (the University System of Georgia or USG), its initiative for improved consistencies among its\u0026nbsp;26\u0026nbsp;member\u0026nbsp;institutions (OneUSG), and the term Human Capital Management (HCM).\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EIf\u0026nbsp;any\u0026nbsp;of these terms mean nothing to you, take a few minutes to read\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hr.gatech.edu\/news\/oneusg-sounds-familiar\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Epart 1\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hr.gatech.edu\/news\/oneusg-ive-heard-what-hcm\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Epart 2\u003C\/a\u003E.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2017, Georgia Tech entered the third\u0026nbsp;and final\u0026nbsp;phase of\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;OneUSG\u0026nbsp;transition\u0026nbsp;impacting its Human Capital Management processes and systems.\u0026nbsp;In short, the way we have been doing business will change. Steps in our standard operating business procedures will be different.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAt the end of\u0026nbsp;this year, the Institute will transition to a new\u0026nbsp;HCM\u0026nbsp;platform, OneUSG Connect.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis transformation will impact every department at every level within Georgia Tech: faculty, staff, student employees, affiliates, Tech Temps, and contracted workers. When fully realized, Georgia Tech will use OneUSG Connect to manage all HR transactions from recruiting and onboarding to retirements and terminations.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBy 2020, all\u0026nbsp;USG\u0026nbsp;institutions will use one HR information system. The data for all schools will be housed in a single, centralized\u0026nbsp;location\u0026nbsp;with\u0026nbsp;each\u0026nbsp;member school\u0026nbsp;accessing only its own information.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBringing all of\u0026nbsp;Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s\u0026nbsp;HR data into the new system is\u0026nbsp;complicated.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFor years\u0026nbsp;many USG institutions\u0026nbsp;have collected, organized, and retained HR data in different ways. To enter the\u0026nbsp;OneUSG\u0026nbsp;system, every\u0026nbsp;member school\u0026nbsp;must\u0026nbsp;adapt\u0026nbsp;their systems and processes\u0026nbsp;related to collecting, organizing, and retaining HR data.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis\u0026nbsp;transition\u0026nbsp;will impact\u0026nbsp;a wide range of everyday systems and processes you\u0026nbsp;or your direct reports\u0026nbsp;use, such as:\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cp\u003EWhere and how you record\u0026nbsp;your time\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\t\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cp\u003EHow\u0026nbsp;we apply for jobs and recruit\/hire\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\t\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cp\u003EHow you view and manage\u0026nbsp;personnel\u0026nbsp;information\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\t\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cp\u003EHow you accrue vacation and sick leave\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\t\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOver the next few months, many of our processes, deadlines, and systems will be optimized\/streamlined and aligned with the USG platform.
