{"619789":{"#nid":"619789","#data":{"type":"news","title":"CSE Chair David Bader Recognized as Author of Top Influential Paper","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ESchool of Computational Science and Engineering Chair \u003Cstrong\u003EDavid Bader\u003C\/strong\u003E is being recognized as one of the most impactful authors in the history of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hipc.org\/\u0022\u003EIEEE International Conference on High-Performance Computing, Data, and Analytics\u003C\/a\u003E (HiPC) conference series.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAs part of its 25\u003Csup\u003Eth\u003C\/sup\u003E anniversary celebration, a\u0026nbsp;HiPC committee reviewed all of the top-ranked paper submissions accepted by the conference during the past 25 years. \u0026ldquo;The committee voted and \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hipc.org\/report-on-hipc-2018\/\u0022\u003Eidentified the seven most impactful papers\u003C\/a\u003E,\u0026rdquo; said HiPC Steering Chair \u003Cstrong\u003EViktor Prasanna\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBader\u0026rsquo;s winning paper, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/~bader\/papers\/SSCA2-TechReport.pdf\u0022\u003E\u003Cem\u003EDesign and Implementation of the HPCS Graph Analysis Benchmark on Symmetric Multiprocessors\u003C\/em\u003E,\u003C\/a\u003E was published at HiPC in 2005.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn the paper, Bader and Pennsylvania State University Associate Professor \u003Cstrong\u003EKamesh Madduri\u003C\/strong\u003E, presented the design and implementation of a graph theory application that supports a synthetic benchmark suite dubbed the Scalable Synthetic Compact Applications (SSCA). This seminal paper is often cited as the earliest data science benchmark on scalable graph analysis. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe SSCA suite was developed under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.darpa.mil\/about-us\/timeline\/highhroductivity-computing-systems\u0022\u003EHigh Productivity Computing\u003C\/a\u003E Systems (HPCS) program to reassess the way performance, programmability, portability, robustness, and productivity are defined and measured in high-performance computing domains.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;These benchmarks represent important computational and data science kernels in solving real-world problems.
