His keynote is part of Session IV: \u003Cem\u003ESustainability of Ocean Resources: Marine Spatial Planning\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGiarrusso explains: Georgia\u0026rsquo;s coastal and offshore resources face increasing pressure from a variety of factors, including onshore development, increasing population, demand for offshore fossil fuels, and climate change.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn order to better plan for and manage these impacts, the DNR Coastal Resources Division and Georgia Tech teamed up to create the Georgia Coastal and Marine Planner, an innovative GIS-based decision-making tool.This session will explore how \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/geospatial.gatech.edu\/GCAMP\/\u0022\u003EGCAMP\u003C\/a\u003E can assist a variety of stakeholders in navigating the complex technical and policy considerations of coastal and marine planning and development in Georgia.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe OceanVision Summit is a gathering of some of the leading minds in ocean and science technology. Participants are gathering at \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EGeorgia Tech\u003C\/a\u003E this week for the summit, co-organized by researchers at Georgia Tech, The Smithsonian Institution, The Georgia Aquarium, and other leading institutions focused on studying and preserving this global resource.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The goal is to highlight ocean-based science and engineering successes in the areas of resilience, adaptation, mitigation and sustainability and promote scalable solutions across human, climate and ecological dimensions,\u0026rdquo; \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/oceanvisions.org\/oceanvisions19\u0022\u003Etheir website states\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGiarrusso is also associate director of CSPAV.
