This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWho:\u003C\/strong\u003E The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers. \u003Cstrong\u003E You don\u0026#39;t need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop. \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ERequirements:\u003C\/strong\u003E Participants must bring a laptop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on. They should have a few specific software packages installed (listed \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/marwahaha.github.io\/2019-05-09-gatech\/#setup\u0022 style=\u0022color: rgb(60, 60, 60);\u0022\u003Ebelow\u003C\/a\u003E).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ECode of Conduct:\u003C\/strong\u003E Everyone who participates in Carpentries activities is required to conform to the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/docs.carpentries.org\/topic_folders\/policies\/code-of-conduct.html\u0022 style=\u0022color: rgb(60, 60, 60);\u0022\u003ECode of Conduct\u003C\/a\u003E. This document also outlines how to report an incident if needed.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMaterials will be provided in advance of the workshop and large-print handouts are available if needed by notifying the organizers in advance.
