{"62230":{"#nid":"62230","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Provost Names Engineering Dean Search Committee","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EFollowing the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.gatech.edu\/newsroom\/release.html?nid=60638\u0022\u003Eannouncement in August\u003C\/a\u003E that College of Engineering Dean Don Giddens would retire at the end of this academic year, Provost Rafael Bras has named a search committee to begin the process of identifying the College\u2019s next leader.\n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWith more than 60 percent of the students and about half of the tenured and tenure-track faculty at the Georgia Tech, the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.coe.gatech.edu\u0022\u003ECollege of Engineering\u003C\/a\u003E is the largest program of its kind in the country. The committee is expected to meet for the first time later this month, where they will discuss the search process and receive a formal charge from the provost.\n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe committee will be charged with articulating the qualities of leadership needed to implement the Institute\u2019s new strategic plan; with screening and interviewing candidates; and with recommending finalists for the position,\u201d Bras said.
