His game \u2014scratch that \u2014 game poem, \u003Cem\u003EA Slow Year\u003C\/em\u003E, won the Virtuoso and the Vanguard award. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EA Slow Year\u003C\/em\u003E is\nactually a collection of four games, one for each season. The games, as Bogost\ndescribes on his blog,\u0026nbsp; \u201care\nneither action nor strategy: each of them requires a different kind of sedate\nobservation and methodical input.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cAs games, these rely on the\nprocedural representation of an idea that the player manipulates. As poetry,\nthey rely on the condensation of symbols and concepts rather than the\nclarification of specific experiences. As images, they offer visually evocative\nyet obscure depictions of real scenes and objects. They are inspired by ideas\nor experiences I encounter, as attempts to capture something fundamental about\nhow they work. Game poems aspire, perhaps, toward a kind of video game version\nof Imagism, if we expand \u2018image\u2019 to include a logic or behavior as its\nsubject,\u201d he adds on his blog bogost.com.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EA Slow Year\u003C\/em\u003E will be\nreleased this fall as a limited edition Atari cartridge and on PC and Mac with\nan Atari emulator.
