{"62276":{"#nid":"62276","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Georgia Tech Appoints Susan Sanders to Development Associate in the College of Architecture","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ESusan Sanders, co-founder and manager of the Institute of Design + Culture in Rome, has returned to Atlanta to lead development efforts in the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech. As development associate, Sanders will pursue strategic alliances and philanthropic initiatives to support the College\u2019s academic, research and service missions. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EHer expertise spans educational management; client relations and business development; as well as architectural education, design and practice.\u0026nbsp; Prior to her seven-year leadership of the Institute of Design + Culture, she served as the Creative Director for Carrier Johnson Architects in San Diego. She also has taught architectural design at the Universities of Arkansas and Kansas and the Savannah College of Art and Design; and was Hyde Chair of Excellence at the University of Nebraska. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn Rome she was a visiting lecturer for the University of Washington and Michigan State University Rome programs, and for museums, corporate groups and educational travel programs. Her current research is focused on the importance\u2014and remaining presence\u2014of ancient Rome in modern American culture with an emphasis on the intersections between past and present in both the United States and Rome. Sanders received the Master of Architecture degree from Georgia Tech in 1989 and the Bachelor of Arts in Art from the University of Georgia.\u0026nbsp; \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe recent celebration of its 100th anniversary places Georgia Tech\u2019s College of Architecture at a crossroads,\u201d said Vice President for Development Barrett H. Carson. \u201cThis critical juncture represents a time of renewal for the College\u2014entering its next hundred years with a bold vision for equipping students with the tools, the inventiveness, and the inspiration to take on the most significant challenges of our time.
