623348 news 1563212400 1563212400 The Georgia Tech Office of the Arts and Georgia Tech Arts Council announced this week that it will support a grant proposal submitted by IPaT Communications Officer Alyson Powell on behalf of the Institute for People and Technology (IPaT). Through photographic portraits and written narratives, the project will highlight the people impacted by Georgia Tech research and innovation. From the proposal:

“While we often highlight researchers and their technologies, what about the people most impacted by these innovations? The goal our project is to tell the stories of “everyday” Georgians, their challenges, and the actual or potential impact of our research in addressing those challenges.”

Next spring, IPaT will host a public exhibition and a workshop focused on the ways researchers, faculty, and staff can regularly incorporate art into their work.

The project is part of the Creative Curricular Initiatives program, sponsored by the Georgia Tech Office of the Arts and Georgia Tech Arts Council. The program encourages faculty, staff, and students to envision projects that combine arts and academics in ways that impact broader campus culture. Awardees also serve two-year terms as Arts Council Fellows on the Georgia Tech Arts Council so that they can connect, mentor, and collaborate with other fellows as well as the Office of the Arts.
