As a part of the Path Forward \u0026ndash; Together objectives, this new process recognizes the commitment to serving the holistic needs of our student population. Opting into GIH is available now, however, GIH will be a formal part of the housing application process for the 2020-2021 academic year.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EProviding Campus Innovative Dining Options\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nOn July 1, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.news.gatech.edu\/2019\/05\/14\/georgia-tech-announces-new-dining-services-provider\u0022\u003EAramark\u003C\/a\u003E began as Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s new on-campus dining services provider.\u0026nbsp;The partnership came after a\u0026nbsp;collaborative RFP process\u0026nbsp;including input from students, faculty and staff.\u0026nbsp;The new contract includes hyper-local partnerships with area celebrity chef and restauranteurs; new technology to streamline service and wait times; creative menus and varied choices; renovations of current facilities; and sustainability initiatives. The transition process will be complete with full-time operations and new concepts at the start of the fall semester.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EBreaking Ground on the Campus Center\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nConstruction on the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.news.gatech.edu\/2019\/06\/24\/campus-center-construction-continues-through-summer\u0022\u003ECampus Center\u003C\/a\u003E Project\u0026nbsp;kicked off on schedule this spring, and the team continues to keep the guiding principles of the project at the forefront of the decision making.\u0026nbsp;Many decisions about the project were made by\u0026nbsp;previous leadership, and throughout the year we thoughtfully and intentionally reviewed our guiding principles to ensure that our plan to move forward reflects these goals and will serve the greater campus community.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ETransforming Tech\u0026#39;s Financial System\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nOn July 1, Georgia Tech launched Workday Financials to transform the Institute\u0026rsquo;s financial systems with leading cloud-based technology. This shift is intended to enable finance at Georgia Tech to streamline and standardize processes and scale with the growing needs of the Institute.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhile there are still known issues to work through, as of the beginning of August, the system has had the following transactions:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E126,457 sign-ons\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E6,886 mobile sign-ons\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E139 journals entered\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E4,880 spend authorizations completed\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E3,388 expense reports created\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E2,631 P-Card transactions verified\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EMore than 11,600 payments made, totaling more than $92 million\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFinancial users are encouraged to sign up for \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/transformation.gatech.edu\/financials-launch-resources#register\u0022\u003EOpen Lab Sessions\u003C\/a\u003E to get one-on-one support when completing transactions.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EServing the Campus Community Safety Needs\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nDesign and construction was completed for \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.news.gatech.edu\/2019\/07\/12\/new-georgia-tech-police-department-building-equipped-protect-campus-host-community\u0022\u003EGeorgia Tech Police Department\u0026rsquo;s new headquarters\u003C\/a\u003E. The new, state-of-the-art 30,000 square-foot facility unifies the department from five separate buildings across campus, allowing divisions to better collaborate to keep the campus safe and engage with the surrounding neighborhoods.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EProviding Leadership in Environmental Health \u0026amp; Safety\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nGeorgia Tech\u0026#39;s \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.facilities.gatech.edu\/environmental-health-safety\u0022\u003EEnvironmental Health \u0026amp; Safety\u003C\/a\u003E (EHS) Department continues to provide regional and national leadership in areas such as makerspace safety, personal protection equipment and minors in labs.\u0026nbsp; Members of the department presented at the University System of Georgia EHS conference in Macon and at the National Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) conference, both in July.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMoving the Library Next Project Forward\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nPhase one of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.news.gatech.edu\/2019\/01\/11\/georgia-tech-library-opens-refurbished-crosland-tower\u0022\u003ELibrary Next project\u003C\/a\u003E, the renovation of Crosland Tower, was completed, delivering an entire floor of graduate study space, new meeting rooms, and some of the best views of Midtown.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAward Winning Facilities and Services\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nThe \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.scup.org\/\u0022\u003ESociety of College and University Planning\u003C\/a\u003E (SCUP) gave Honorable Mentions to Harrison Square for Excellence in Landscape Architecture and West Village Dining Commons for Excellence in Architecture.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFacilities Management\u0026rsquo;s Building Services achieved certification with honors to the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.issa.com\/certification-standards\/cleaning-industry-management-standard-cims\u0022\u003EISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standard Green Building Criteria\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESupporting Women in Technology\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nThe Office for Information Technology hosted the USG\u0026rsquo;s 2019 Women in Technology Summit Friday, July 19, at the Historic Academy of Medicine. This was the largest event in the summit\u0026rsquo;s three-year history with approximately 210 attendees representing the University System of Georgia\u0026rsquo;s 26 institutions.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESupporting Faculty Research and Computing\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nThe Office of Information Technology\u0026rsquo;s \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/pace.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EPartnership for an Advanced Computing Environment \u003C\/a\u003E(PACE) has been awarded a $400,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to expand a national computational grid for faculty research and computing at Georgia Tech. The grant enables expansion of the Open Science Grid at Georgia Tech, which provides shared resources for researchers to run massive numbers of small computations in a process commonly referred to as high throughput computing (HTC).
