Kabir Barday's Tips for Future Entrepreneurs

Along with an interview about how his Georgia Tech experience continues to influence how he does business today, alumnus and OneTrust CEO Kabir Barday also shared a few insider tips for up-and-coming entrepreneurs.

Work for a start-up. Barday’s first job was with AirWatch, a new company when he graduated that was also founded by a Tech graduate. “Seeing all of the ingredients of a fast-growing start-up really demystified the process for me,” he said.

Don’t rush things. The issue with many student startups, Barday says, is that inexperience leads their founders to tackle small problems. “If you want to tackle a bigger opportunity, you have to go get experience with clients,” he said. “Don’t let impatience be a barrier to realizing your potential.”

Get involved. Barday was in a fraternity, and also part of student government — he served as president of the Student Center and led fundraising for its bowling alley. He credits that experience with building the soft skills he needs in business. “I encourage people to join more than one club,” he said. “Look for people who are not like yourself.”
