You are not alone.  You belong.  You are valued.  We are so glad you are here.  That is what the planning committee behind Suicide Prevention Week 2019 wants to communicate to Georgia Tech Students.  This week signs have been placed around campus in seven languages to make sure all members of the Georgia Tech community know that they are valued and that there is help available if they need it.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. for all ages. These signs act as a beacon of hope to those struggling with grief and a reminder that they are not alone, and the entire Georgia Tech community stands behind them.

What makes the message on these signs unique is that the meaning behind them is in the eye of the beholder. Whether the viewer is struggling with depression, or a class project these signs are a reminder that you are enough, and you are worthy.

We all have a role to play in ending suicide on our campus and in our community. Suicide Prevention Week is part of Georgia Tech’s commitment to health and well-being on campus. For more information about the various events scheduled throughout the week go to endsuicide.gatech.edu.
