{"626297":{"#nid":"626297","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Kaye Husbands Fealing Elected NAPA Fellow; Keynotes AAAS Fellowship Program","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EBy Paul DeMerritt, Ivan Allen College Communications\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe \u003Cstrong\u003ENational Academy of Public Administration\u003C\/strong\u003E (NAPA) recently\u0026nbsp;announced that Georgia Institute of Technology \u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/spp.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Public Policy\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E Chair \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\/fealing\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EKaye Husbands Fealing\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E was among 51 leaders in the field of public administration to be selected for the \u003Cstrong\u003E2019 Class of Academy Fellows\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHusbands Fealing and the other 2019\u0026nbsp;Fellows will be inducted during NAPA\u0026rsquo;s\u0026nbsp;annual\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.napawash.org\/events\/2019-fall-meeting\u0022\u003EAcademy Fall Meeting\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E, which will take place from November 7 to 8 in Arlington, Virginia.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;I am very pleased to welcome our 2019 class of Fellows,\u0026rdquo; said Academy President and CEO \u003Cstrong\u003ETerry Gerton\u003C\/strong\u003E. \u0026ldquo;Our Fellows are nationally recognized for their expertise and contributions to the field of public administration and this year\u0026rsquo;s incoming class is no exception. They are an outstanding group that will enrich our Fellowship, especially as we unveil the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.napawash.org\/grand-challenges-in-public-administration\/\u0022\u003EGrand Challenges in Public Administration\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;and collaborate across the field to find solutions.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHusbands Fealing recently\u0026nbsp;gave the keynote address for the\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellowship Program\u003C\/strong\u003E on September 12. Drawing on her experience as\u0026nbsp;a AAAS\u0026nbsp;Fellow and Executive Board Member, she encouraged attendees to ensure that passion and courage always drive their work.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to her NAPA and AAAS appointments, Husbands Fealing has received honors and holds positions at a number of policy-focused government agencies, nonprofits, and\u0026nbsp;adademic institutions. She currently serves on the\u003Cstrong\u003E National Science Foundation\u0026rsquo;s Committee on Equal Opportunities in Science and Engineering,\u003C\/strong\u003E the \u003Cstrong\u003ENational Institutes of Health\u0026rsquo;s National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council\u003C\/strong\u003E, the \u003Cstrong\u003ENational Academies panels on Review of the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Programs at the Department of Energy\u003C\/strong\u003E, the \u003Cstrong\u003ENational Academies panel on Reengineering the Census Bureau\u0026rsquo;s Annual Economic Surveys\u003C\/strong\u003E, and the \u003Cstrong\u003EGeorgia Intellectual Property Alliance\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EShe is a board member for the \u003Cstrong\u003ECenter for Organization Research and Design at Arizona State University\u003C\/strong\u003E, and for the \u003Cstrong\u003ESociety for Economic Measurement\u003C\/strong\u003E.
