Kosal\u003C\/a\u003E, an associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs.\u0026nbsp; You can view Kosal\u0026#39;s video on YouTube:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;https:\/\/youtu.be\/dHa_ZjEo-J0\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWith the 2019 Nobel Prizes soon to be announced, it is fitting that Kosal celebrates Marie Curie in this month\u0026#39;s\u0026nbsp;video.\u0026nbsp;Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel prize, the first person to win the Nobel Prize twice, and the only person so far to win two Nobel prizes in two scientific disciplines: physics (1903) and chemistry (1911).\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EKosal directs the Sam Nunn Security Program and the Program on Emerging Technology and Security. She is also a member of the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience. Her research explores the relationships among technology, strategy, and governance.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EShe is the author of\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.springer.com\/us\/book\/9781441900616\u0022\u003E\u0026ldquo;Nanotechnology for Chemical and Biological Defense.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;The book explores scenarios, benefits, and potential proliferation threats of nanotechnology and other emerging sciences. She is the editor of \u0026ldquo;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.springer.com\/us\/book\/9783319752310\u0022\u003ETechnology and the Intelligence Community: Challenges and Advances for the 21st Century\u003C\/a\u003E.\u0026rdquo; The book examines the role of technology in gathering, assimilating and utilizing intelligence information through the ages. She is editor-in-chief of\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/journals\/politics-and-the-life-sciences\u0022\u003EPolitics and the Life Sciences\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/em\u003E. The journal publishes original scholarly research at the intersection of political science and the life sciences.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EKosal has served as a senior advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Army and as science and technology advisor in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETrained as an experimental scientist, Kosal earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, working on biomimetic and nanostructured functional materials.
