{"628101":{"#nid":"628101","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Call for Proposal Development Funds\u00a0for\u00a0NSF National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Institutes","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Institute for Data Engineering and Science (IDEaS) plans to make multiple awards to teams engaged in the development of proposals to the NSF AI Research Institutes program (NSF 20-503). Preference will be given to Institute track proposals and planning proposals may be supported at smaller budgets. Example uses of funds include team brainstorming retreats, travel to collaborating institutions, support for travel of collaborators to Georgia Tech for the purposes of brainstorming or proposal writing, etc.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe awards are expected to average about $5,000. We remain flexible regarding the proposed use of funds and the total budget amount. The call is open to all Institute faculty regardless of their affiliation with IDEaS. The overarching goal of this effort is to permit sensible planning, provide funding quickly to facilitate early group formation, and increase chances of success for Georgia Tech in this important national competition. IDEaS will also be ready to provide organizational and logistics support for brainstorming retreats and\/or proposal writing workshops, as needed.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EInterested PIs are requested to submit a one-page proposal detailing:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Col\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EComposition of the planned team (both GT and collaborating institutions),\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EOverall vision and key goals for the proposed institute,\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ERole and scope of Georgia Tech participation, if a multi-institutional proposal,\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EThe budget request for IDEaS support, including purposes and corresponding amounts\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ol\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EProposals should be submitted in a PDF format to Shkina Halbert (\u003Ca href=\u0022mailto:shalbert@gatech.edu\u0022\u003Eshalbert@gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E) by October 31, 2019. Funding decisions will be communicated shortly thereafter.
