Putin’s Long View: What Domestic Changes Mean for Russia & the World

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin instituted sweeping reforms that are aimed at allowing him to maintain influence over the Russian political system when he is no longer president, which ultimately led the Russian government to resign. It is believed that such moves were enacted to ensure that Putin’s legacy will not be undone by his successors. What exactly were these changes and what do they mean for the future of Russian politics and strategy? Are we looking at a new “tandemocracy?” How does the U.S. and the world adjust their foreign policy objectives towards Russia?
