{"63175":{"#nid":"63175","#data":{"type":"news","title":"New Lab at Georgia Tech Conducts Joint Industry-University Research in Building Design and Construction","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech today introduced the new Digital Building Laboratory, a consortium of faculty, students and corporations working to advance technologies for the design and construction of buildings.\u003Cbr \/\u003ECombining expertise in architecture, computing, building construction and civil engineering, the lab tackles research projects aligned to strategic industry challenges. For example:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDigital Design and Fabrication: testing new materials and building methods with advanced computing\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEnergy and Sustainability: developing building performance assessment tools and alternative energy sources for buildings\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EModeling and Visualization: developing interactive environments to support retrofit design and engineering\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ESystems, Processes and Interoperability: improving project work flows and integrated project delivery\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFacilities include the13,000 square-foot Digital Fabrication Lab workspace and, beginning January 2011, the Hinman Research building which currently is undergoing a $6 million renovation.
