How is this different\u0026nbsp;from the way those new to a discipline organized these same ideas? How, if at\u0026nbsp;all, does\u0026nbsp;undergraduate education in a discipline affect how an individual\u0026nbsp;organizes their disciplinary\u0026nbsp;knowledge?\u0026nbsp;In this interactive session, participants\u0026nbsp;will engage in exploring differences in expert and novice\u0026nbsp;thinking, which is\u0026nbsp;grounded in theories and methodologies from both science education and\u0026nbsp;cognitive\u0026nbsp;psychology. Attendees will participate in a card sorting exercise to\u0026nbsp;explore the many ways that\u0026nbsp;knowledge within a discipline can be organized. Additionally,\u0026nbsp;participants will then have the\u0026nbsp;opportunity to make predictions about potential\u0026nbsp;organizational frameworks that might be used by\u0026nbsp;novices and experts within\u0026nbsp;their own disciplines.
