This event will be rescheduled most likely in the fall.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn the anniversary of the 30th year of the naming of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, Interim Dean John L. Tone\u0026nbsp;and the Dean\u0026#39;s Offices of Communications and Development host the dedication of a new exhibit showcasing the life story, principles, and values of College namesake, Ivan Allen Jr., Mayor of Atlanta from 1962 to\u0026nbsp;1970\u0026nbsp;who established the modern foundations for the city and was a pivotal leader for Civil Rights.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts is entrusted by the Allen family as steward of Mayor Allen\u0026#39;s legacy of tranformation urban leadership, social justice, social courage, and ethical action. Recognition of Mayor Allen\u0026#39;s extrarodinary legacy\u0026nbsp;can be found in many places throughout Atlanta. Most recently in November 2019, the PATH Foundation brought the city together to dedicate the Ivan Allen Jr. Legacy Bridge connecting downtown\u0026nbsp;Atlanta\u0026rsquo;s east and west\u0026nbsp;sides.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EA prior exhibit about Mayor Allen was on display at the former location of the dean\u0026#39;s offices on\u0026nbsp;Marietta Street. The new exhibit in our offices in the Savant Building presents\u0026nbsp;the compelling story of Mayor Allen\u0026#39;s life\u0026nbsp;as a Georgia Tech alumni (Commerce 1933), as an inspiring and transformative\u0026nbsp;business and civic leader, and his personal and public journey to become a pivotal advocate\u0026nbsp;for Civil Rights in America.
