{"633483":{"#nid":"633483","#data":{"type":"news","title":"ML Student Wins First Place in Advanced Category at Annual Japanese Speech Contest ","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe 29th Annual Japanese Speech Contest was held on Saturday, March 7\u003Csup\u003Eth\u003C\/sup\u003E, at Mercer University\u0026rsquo;s \u0026nbsp;Atlanta campus.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe two events, which took place in Day Hall, were co-organized by the Georgia Association of Teachers of Japanese, the Japan-America Society of Georgia, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, and supported by the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Japan Academic Challenge is a quiz-show style competition that tests high school students\u0026rsquo; knowledge of Japanese culture, history, grammar and language with four levels of competition. The Japanese Speech Contest involves high school and college students presenting memorized presentations entirely in Japanese with various divisions of competition.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThirty students from eleven surrounding schools participated in the event.\u0026nbsp;Six students represented Georgia Tech in the festivities.
