{"633595":{"#nid":"633595","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Georgia Tech Admits 3,000 Regular Decision Applicants","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EAlmost 19,000 students learned March 14 whether they will join the Georgia Institute of Technology\u0026rsquo;s next class of undergraduates.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERoughly 20% of those students \u0026mdash; 3,415 out of 18,800 \u0026mdash; have been invited to enroll. In Georgia alone, they come from 391 high schools and 107 different counties. As always, those students automatically included the valedictorian and salutatorian from any Georgia high school who applied to Tech.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis batch of decisions is the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/news.gatech.edu\/2020\/01\/17\/early-action-applicants-get-admission-decisions-georgia-tech\u0022\u003Esecond half of the new class of students\u003C\/a\u003E. A little more than 22,000 students received admission decisions as part of Early Action in January. All told, the total number of students admitted is 7,984 That\u0026rsquo;s an overall admit rate of 20%.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThis year, 67% of Georgia students who applied to Georgia Tech were admitted to the summer or fall term or provided the opportunity to earn a Tech degree through a transfer pathway. Another 15% of Georgia applicants were offered a place on the waitlist.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETransfer pathways give students the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/admission.gatech.edu\/transfer\/transfer-pathway-programs\u0022\u003Echance to transfer to Tech after a year in college elsewhere\u003C\/a\u003E. Nearly 1,500 students were offered the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/admission.gatech.edu\/transfer\/georgia-first-pathway-program\u0022\u003EGeorgia First Transfer Pathway\u003C\/a\u003E for first-generation students from Georgia or the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.news.gatech.edu\/2020\/01\/14\/transfer-program-offers-new-path-georgia-tech-pell-eligible-students\u0022\u003Enew Talent Initiative Transfer Pathway for Pell Grant-eligible students.\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOverall, Tech received just under 41,000 applications for next year, an increase of 10% over 2019.
