CIOS scores are based on student responses in three categories:&nbsp; the instructor&rsquo;s respect and concern for students; their level of enthusiasm about teaching the course; and their ability to stimulate my interest in the subject matter. The awards are funded by an endowment by the Class of 1934.</p>

<!-- TO DO: correct to not conflate categories and news room topics -->
<!-- Disquisition: it's funny how I write these TODOs and then never
revisit them. It's as though the act of writing the thing down frees me

say? There are more problems than there's time to solve. -->
