Ling-Ming earned a PhD in the History and Sociology of Technology and Science.  His external thesis committee members was Professor Michelle Hsien of Academia Sinca in Taiwan, with internal members being Professors Amsterdam, Lu, and Schatzberg. Professor Krige was his supervisor.
