Robotics Research Includes Advances in Systems Design, Applications, and other Key Areas

Roboticists from around the world, including researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology, are publishing their latest work at the 2020 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), a two-week live online virtual affair the first part of June, with research activities continuing through August.

Georgia Tech is a leading contributor with 42 papers that include research covering more than 60 subfields within robotics. Deep learning in robotics and automation is one of the top areas of research among authors from the College of Computing and College of Engineering, the two largest contributors to Georgia Tech’s research at ICRA.

Deep learning is computing’s strongest area while mechanism design is where engineering excels based on the number of authors in the areas.

Top 3 subfields for computing authors:

Deep Learning

Semantic Scene Understanding

Physically Assistive Devices and Network Devices (tie)

Top 3 subfields for engineering authors:

Mechanism Design

Learning and Adaptive Systems

Multi-Robot Systems

The diversity of Georgia Tech robotics research at ICRA is also represented in the number of academic units and disciplines involved in advancing the field. Multidisciplinary teams often come together to tackle challenges that require a unique combination of skill sets.

There are nearly 100 Georgia Tech authors with work at ICRA. Explore the people, research, and trends from our community at https://icra.cc.gatech.edu/
