Steinfeld directs the MIT China Program\n(MISTI), and co-directs the MIT Industrial Performance Center\u2019s China Energy\nGroup. Steinfeld\u2019s research focuses on the political economy of development,\nwith a particular emphasis on contemporary China. In addition to a variety of\nacademic articles, Steinfeld is the author of Playing Our Game: Why China\u2019s\nRise Doesn\u0027t Threaten the West (Oxford University Press, 2010) and Forging\nReform in China: The Fate of State-Owned Industry (Cambridge University Press,\n1998). Steinfeld also edited (with Anthony Saich and Yasheng Huang) the book\nFinancial Sector Reform in China (Harvard University, 2005).\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to his scholarly publications, Steinfeld has published opinion\npieces in The Washington Post, The Far Eastern Economic Review, The Wall Street\nJournal, and The South China Morning Post. While at MIT, Steinfeld has also\nserved as a consultant to the World Bank, the International Finance\nCorporation, and a variety of both public and private sector organizations.
