Students attending other colleges and universities affiliated with the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE) may also be able to enroll through the council\u0026rsquo;s cross-registration program. Students at other ARCHE institutions should check with their school\u0026rsquo;s registrar for details.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Offering students a rich array of languages to study is an important part of our goal to develop leaders with a global mindset who are prepared to improve the human condition,\u0026rdquo; said Georgia Tech President \u0026Aacute;ngel Cabrera. \u0026ldquo;It is also yet another way we are supporting Atlanta as an international hub and contributing to the state\u0026rsquo;s economic development efforts.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe new course offerings are part of the mission of AGSC, a partnership of Georgia Tech and Georgia State University, funded through a \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\/news-events\/stories\/2018\/9\/georgia-tech-state-university-establish-atlanta-global-studies-center\/611622\u0022\u003E$2.25 million grant \u003C\/a\u003Efrom the U.S. Department of Education.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Enhancing global competence and cross-cultural understanding are core priorities of the School of Modern Languages. By adding Hebrew and Swahili, we are strengthening our efforts in \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/degrees\/minors-MENAS\u0022\u003EMiddle Eastern and North African Studies\u003C\/a\u003E and applied language learning to serve all Georgia Tech students, regardless of major,\u0026rdquo; said \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\/stenport\u0022\u003EAnna Westerstahl Stenport\u003C\/a\u003E, professor of Global Studies and chair in Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/modlangs.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Modern Languages\u003C\/a\u003E and founding co-director of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/atlantaglobalstudies.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EAtlanta Global Studies Center \u003C\/a\u003E(AGSC).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhile the initial course offerings focus on introductory Hebrew and Swahili, Georgia Tech expects to add intermediate and advanced courses and grow experiential learning opportunities focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the Middle East and Africa.
