Yamaguchi joined the School of Modern Languages in 2006. He has taught many Georgia Tech students getting them excited about making Japanese a part of their lives and careers. Having earned his MA in communication from the University of Pittsburgh and taught courses at such places as Oberlin College, UC Berkeley, and National University of Singapore, he has taught beginning to advanced level Japanese classes and accompanied many students through this progression. Aligning with his academic interest in developing effective language teaching materials, he has also directed a summer intensive Language for Business and Technology (LBAT) Japan and accompany students to overseas to teach those courses. 

On behalf of all of us in the School of Modern Languages, we offer our gratitude to Kimiaki, for his years of dedicated service to the School, for being a wonderful colleague, and for making a positive impact on not only our lives, but also fostering the academic and career development of students at Georgia Tech. We hope to come together in the Fall to celebrate his retirement in person, but in the meantime, we truly appreciate his many contributions and wish him the best for the new chapter that lies ahead!
