The European Center of Excellence (EUCE) is hosting a breakfast with Mr. Benoît Standaert (Consul General of Belgium), and Mr. John Parkerson (Honorary Consul of Hungary) discussing, "Assessing the Trio Approach to the EU Rotating Presidency: Belgian and Hungarian Perspectives".

Spain, Belgium and Hungary agreed on a joint 18-month program, beginning in January 2010, termed the Trio Presidency of the European Union (EU). After Belgium, which held the EU Presidency in the second half of 2010, Hungary, as of January 1st, 2011, is the third country of the EU Trio Presidency.  These three countries are the first to work under the rules of the EU's new Lisbon Treaty and have the responsibility to define a working method to ensure a smooth transition without neglecting the treaty's political advances. This briefing will assess the Belgian Presidency and review the Hungarian agenda and priorities.
