These emerging technologies have had similar impacts on national security as well. Rising regional powers and global powers like the Russian Federation, the People\u0026rsquo;s Republic of China, and the United States are racing to develop capabilities that they hope will enhance and transform their warfighting capabilities.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nFPRI will provide an overview of the special issue and feature insights from two of its contributors, Dr. Michael Horowitz and Dr. Margaret Kosal. In addition to discussing their articles on bioengineering and Artificial Intelligence, respectively, Horowitz and Kosal will examine the following questions central to the special issue:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EWhat is an emerging technology and is it more relevant for national security today than in the past?\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EHow should we think about the intersection between emerging technology and national security?\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EWhat emerging technology should the national security community be paying more attention to?\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EAbout the Speakers:\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/inta.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/lawrence-rubin\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ELawrence Rubin\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E is guest editor of this special issue. He is an associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology and an associate fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. His research focuses primarily on international conflict and military innovation by state and non-state actors.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/inta.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/margaret-e-kosal\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMargaret E. Kosal\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E \u003C\/strong\u003Eis Associate Professor at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA.
