Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) received awards for their research. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 conference was held virtually from November 7-11.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EA. Russell Chandler III Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/isye.gatech.edu\/users\/santanu-dey\u0022\u003ESantanu Dey\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;was\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.isye.gatech.edu\/news\/santanu-dey-awarded-inaugural-egon-balas-prize\u0022\u003Eawarded the inaugural Egon Balas Prize\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;from the INFORMS Optimization Society. The prize was established to honor an early career individual who has made significant contributions to the field of optimization.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EProfessor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/isye.gatech.edu\/users\/renato-monteiro\u0022\u003ERenato Monteiro\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;received the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.isye.gatech.edu\/news\/renato-monteiro-awarded-2020-informs-computing-society-prize\u0022\u003EINFORMS Computing Society Award\u003C\/a\u003E, along with his former student\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003ESam Burer\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;(Ph.D. 2001). Monteiro was also given this honor in 2001, making him one of the few researchers to receive it more than once.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAlumnus\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EWeijun Xie\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;(Ph.D. OR 2017) was honored with the\u0026nbsp;INFORMS Optimization Society Prize for Young Researchers for his paper, \u0026quot;On Distributionally Robust Chance Constrained Programs with Wasserstein Distance,\u0026quot;\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EMathematical Programming (Series A\u003C\/em\u003E).\u0026nbsp;He was advised by the late Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/isye.gatech.edu\/users\/shabbir-ahmed\u0022\u003EShabbir Ahmed\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Cem\u003EFirst Place\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nPh.D. student\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.isye.gatech.edu\/users\/arden-baxter\u0022\u003EArden Baxter\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;won the Registration Award in the Bayer Women in Operations Research Scholarship Competition.
