The dimensionality reduction (DR) techniques in this research considerably reduce the computing requirements. This proposal also focuses on developing a reliable inverse design approach by overcoming the non-uniqueness challenge. I have developed a double-step DR technique to reduce the complexity of the inverse design problem while preserving the necessary information for finding the optimum nanostructure for the desired functionality. I established an approach based on defining physics-driven metrics to explore the low-dimensional manifold of design-response space and provide a sweet region in the reduced design space for the desired functionality. In the remaining work, I propose using a mixture density network to map the low-dimensional instances to the actual design parameters to complete the inverse design approach for non-unique problems.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"A New Paradigm for Knowledge Discovery and Design in Naophotonics Based on Artificial Intelligence"}],"uid":"28475","created_gmt":"2020-12-08 17:03:13","changed_gmt":"2020-12-08 17:03:13","author":"Daniela Staiculescu","boilerplate_text":"","field_publication":"","field_article_url":"","field_event_time":{"event_time_start":"2020-12-17T10:00:00-05:00","event_time_end":"2020-12-17T12:00:00-05:00","event_time_end_last":"2020-12-17T12:00:00-05:00","gmt_time_start":"2020-12-17 15:00:00","gmt_time_end":"2020-12-17 17:00:00","gmt_time_end_last":"2020-12-17 17:00:00","rrule":null,"timezone":"America\/New_York"},"extras":[],"groups":[{"id":"434371","name":"ECE Ph.D. Proposal Oral Exams"}],"categories":[],"keywords":[{"id":"102851","name":"Phd proposal"},{"id":"1808","name":"graduate students"}],"core_research_areas":[],"news_room_topics":[],"event_categories":[{"id":"1788","name":"Other\/Miscellaneous"}],"invited_audience":[{"id":"78771","name":"Public"}],"affiliations":[],"classification":[],"areas_of_expertise":[],"news_and_recent_appearances":[],"phone":[],"contact":[],"email":[],"slides":[],"orientation":[],"userdata":""}}}
