As the deadline for this year\u2019s submissions approaches, we look forward to offering our workshop with a lively panel discussion featuring previous CAREER award recipients. During the workshop, panelists will share their experiences with the CAREER program and offer insight into obtaining funding.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETo register for this workshop, click \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.osp.gatech.edu\/training\/index.php\u0022\u003Ehere\u003C\/a\u003E.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPanelists:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDan Margalit received the NSF CAREER Award in 2010 with a proposal entitled \u201cGroup-Theoretical, Dynamical, and Combinatorial Aspects of Mapping Class Groups.\u201d Dr. Margalit is an assistant professor in the School of Mathematics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2003. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Utah from 2003 to 2008, and was an assistant professor at Tufts University 2008 from 2010 before arriving at Tech. \u0026nbsp;His main research interest is the mapping class group, which describes symmetries of surfaces.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EMaysam Ghovanloo received the NSF CAREER Award in 2010 with a proposal entitled \u201cBrain-Tongue-Computer Interfacing.\u201d He is an assistant professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of the Georgia Tech Bionics Lab. His professional background is in electrical engineering, integrated circuit design and biomedical engineering. Dr. Ghovanloo\u2019s research interests include implantable microelectronic devices, neuroprostheses and assistive technologies.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EYajun Mei received the NSF CAREER award in 2010 with a proposal entitled \u0022CAREER: Streaming Data Analysis in Sensor Networks.\u0022 Dr. Mei is an associate professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He received a Ph.D. in mathematics with a minor in electrical engineering in 2003 from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and has also worked as a postdoctoral fellow in biostatistics for two years in the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
