64593 news 1283385600 1475896095 <![CDATA[Navneet Gandhi Earns First Place Poster Honors at Annual Review]]> ECE master's student Navneet Gandhi won first place in a recent student poster competition at the 37th Annual Review of Progress in Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation. His advisor is Jennifer Michaels, an associate professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech.

Mr. Gandhi presented his work entitled, "Acoustoelastic Lamb Wave Propagation in a Homogeneous, Isotropic Aluminum Plate," at the conference which was held July 18-23 in San Diego, Calif.

His work on the poster is supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory on a project that aims to understand and exploit the effects of stress on guided wave structural health monitoring. Dr. Michaels was a co-author on the paper, as was Sang Jun Lee, a postdoctoral associate in the QUEST Lab.

In addition to Mr. Gandhi winning first place at the review, Georgia Tech students advised by Laurence Jacobs took second and third place poster prizes, making it a Georgia Tech sweep of the poster competition. Dr. Jacobs is a professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the associate dean for academic affairs in the College of Engineering.
