Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) announced that \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.isye.gatech.edu\/users\/george-lan\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EGeorge Lan\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E has been promoted to the rank of professor, effective August 15, 2021.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ELan\u0026rsquo;s research interests focus on the theory, algorithms, and applications of stochastic optimization and nonlinear programming. He is currently pursuing the application of stochastic and nonlinear optimization models\/algorithms in machine learning and intelligence. Lan has been the recipient of numerous grants from the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, and the Army Research Office in support of this work.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Sincere congratulations to George on reaching a well-deserved and important milestone in his career,\u0026rdquo; said H.
