{"64634":{"#nid":"64634","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Changes Approved to  Conflict of Interest Policy","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EProposed changes meant to clarify the process and rules set forth in the Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy were approved during the Feb. 15 joint meeting of the Academic Senate and General Faculty Assembly.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAmong the primary changes were the addition of definitions for a \u201cCOI management office\u201d and \u201cresponsible unit official,\u201d as well as revised definitions for \u201cfamily,\u201d \u201cinvestigator\u201d and \u201cresponsible representative of the institution.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe section on \u201cDisclosure to the Institute\u201d was revised to reflect the use of the online COI disclosure system, and the \u201cReview of Financial Disclosures and Resolution of COI\u201d section was revised to reflect a centralized review process that is conducted by the COI office and that the \u201cresponsible unit official\u201d will be involved in COI management.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;In other business, the following topics were addressed: \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EA new minor in leadership studies that will be offered by the School of Public Policy and the College of Management was approved, among other programming items. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EProposed changes to the procedures followed by the Faculty Status and Grievance Committee were approved. Now, when a formal hearing committee is generated, it will include 25 potential members, rather than 24. Also, if the grievance is related to decisions regarding academic faculty status, the generated list will now consist of only academic faculty of appropriate rank and tenure status.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ENominations for open faculty governance positions are being accepted through the end of February.
