The goal is to promote literacy in our neighborhood schools by giving a book to all students in kindergarten through fifth grade at William Boyd Elementary School.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOver 30 Georgia Tech volunteers helped distribute Georgia Tech \u0026ldquo;swag packs,\u0026rdquo; which included a Georgia Tech t-shirt, bookmark, and book. The Global Social Entrepreneurship team donated 200 copies of\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.Scoutheroes.com\u0022\u003EScout\u0026rsquo;s Superhero Search: The Birdieman of Rio de Janeiro\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003Eso that every student could receive their very own book\u003Cem\u003E.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;These books feature real-life superheroes from marginalized communities, in this case an Afro-Brazilian community leader who transforms his neighborhood with badminton,\u0026rdquo;\u0026nbsp;said Kirk Bowman, Jon R. Wilcox Term Professor of Global Development and Identity\u0026nbsp;and VIP director.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E\u0026ldquo;\u003C\/em\u003EOne of our VIP\u0026rsquo;s main goals is to use documentary film, digital games, and children\u0026rsquo;s books to provide role models for\u0026nbsp;marginalized communities in Brazil and beyond.\u0026nbsp;Implicit cognitive bias takes root early in life, so we want as many young kids as possible to read these books.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech students wrote the book and Rio de Janeiro street artist Caz\u0026eacute; illustrated it. Since its publication, they have\u0026nbsp;distributed 2,000\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EScout\u0026rsquo;s Superhero Search\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;books for free in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.\u0026nbsp;The kids love the book, a George P.
