Biography: Mustafa Akyol is a Turkish political commentator and author based in Istanbul, Turkey. Since 2002, he has been a regular commentator in the Turkish media. He serves as a prominent columnist for Hurriyet Daily News, Turkey's foremost English-language daily. Akyol's articles have appeared in other publications including Foreign Affairs, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, Newsweek, The Washington Times, The American Enterprise Magazine and IslamOnline. He also writes a column for the Turkish-language daily Star. He has given seminars in several universities and think-thanks in the U.S. and the U.K. on issues relating to Islam and modernity.
