This is where NVIDIA and Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s latest partnership aims to help.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDeveloped by School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) Associate Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EPolo Chau\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;and Prairie View A\u0026amp;M University Assistant Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EXishuang Dong\u003C\/strong\u003E, a\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/training\/teaching-kits\/\u0022\u003Eteaching kit focused on data science education\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;as part of the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/training\/\u0022\u003ENVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI)\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;is now available for free to qualified educators.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EReleased as a multipart series, four kits are offered through NVIDIA\u0026rsquo;s DLI program in collaboration with leading researchers and professors in four research areas:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EDeep Learning\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EAccelerated Computing\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ERobotics\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EData Science\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESpecifically, each of these four DLI Teaching Kits lowers the barrier to entry for educators seeking to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) and graphic processing unit (GPU) computing in coursework by providing downloadable teaching materials and online courses.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe kit teaches students fundamental and advanced topics on accelerated data science with\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/rapids.ai\/\u0022\u003ENVIDIA RAPIDS\u0026nbsp;framework\u003C\/a\u003E, GPU-accelerated machine learning, data visualization, graph analytics, and more.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Traditional data science software libraries are mainly written for CPUs and don\u0026rsquo;t take advantage of GPUs. The RAPIDS library is NVIDIA\u0026rsquo;s effort to simplify and more easily use their GPU Python focused library,\u0026rdquo; said Chau.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Data Science Teaching Kit contains tens of modules and labs, with content adapted from\u0026nbsp;the popular course,\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/poloclub.github.io\/cse6242-2021spring-online\/\u0022\u003ECSE 6242: Data and Visual Analytics\u003C\/a\u003E, taught by Chau.\u0026nbsp;Georgia Tech contributors on the project include\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/poloclub.github.io\/\u0022\u003EPolo Club for Data Science\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;researchers\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EScott\u0026nbsp;Freitas,\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EHaekyu Park, Jay Want, Jon Saad-Falcon\u003C\/strong\u003E,\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EKevin Li,\u0026nbsp;Aiswarya Bhagavatula\u003C\/strong\u003E, and\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EFrank Zhou.\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The new development on our side is creating the modules and figuring out how to provide interactive labs for the students to work on and new coding questions,\u0026rdquo; said Freitas, a lead researcher on the project. \u0026ldquo;We also released three papers and each one of those papers will inform a lab in the teaching kit.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EPart of these papers include two new large-scale datasets for cybersecurity which are incorporated into the toolkit to teach participants how to detect malware using new graph techniques.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAccording to Freitas, the two datasets being integrated are also\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/mal-net.org\/\u0022\u003Etwo of the largest cybersecurity and graph datasets ever released in the world\u003C\/a\u003E.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The end goal is to help people learn how to use new state-of-the-art GPU accelerated techniques. NVIDIA has many advanced technologies that they are developing but it may not necessarily be accessible to people just getting into the field.
