The budget bill, designated as HB78, contained good news for Georgia Tech.  The Institute's primary priority, $4.2 million in bond funds for construction of the Eco-Commons/Storm Water Relocation Project, was included.  The bond package also included $50 million in Major Repair and Rehabilitation funds for the USG, another key legislative concern.

As in Governor Deal’s recommendation, the budget as passed did not include new Formula Funds for enrollment growth.

HB78 now goes to the Senate where it appears to be on track for quick action.  Appropriations subcommittees are due to discuss and vote on the bill early next week with the entire Appropriations Committee likely to meet later next week.

After approval by the Senate, the two versions will be reconciled by House and Senate leadership before going to the governor for his final approval.
